Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has confirmed he will remain with the club this season, appearing to rule out a move to Manchester City.

The champions had been linked with a move for the England captain all summer with reports that Kane had been valued up to as much as £150m by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

That seems to have been the sticking point for Pep Guardiola and co, with the City boss publicly confirming his interest in Kane earlier this month.

But the 28-year-old brought the long-running transfer saga to an end on Wednesday afternoon when he tweeted a message saying: “It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks. I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success.”

Kane played his first minutes of the season at the weekend when he came on for Tottenham in the 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, and could feature on Thursday night in the second leg of Spurs’ Europa Conference League game against Pacos de Ferreira.

As for City, they’ll have to turn their attentions elsewhere if they’re to sign a sriker this window, with the club linked with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo in the last few days.

It means that the Blues have only made one senior signing this summer in the form of Jack Grealish, who scored his first goal for the club at the weekend.
