How Man City owners’ massive wealth compares with world’s richest clubs - Newcastle, PSG, Chelsea & more

Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi owners have changed the face of the club, but how do they compare to other sides across the globe?

Since Manchester City’s takeover in 2008, Sheikh Mansour’s ownership has transformed the club.

Having previously been a side who tended to operate in the mid-to-lower reaches of the Premier League, no side have been more successful in the English top flight over the last decade than the Sky Blues.

So much of this is down to the wealth of City’s owners, who have invested significantly in transfer fees, such as the £100m swoop for Jack Grealish last summer.

But the club have also redeveloped the Etihad stadium, as well as the surrounding campus and club infrastructure as seen with their state-of-the art training facilities.

Although it is worth remembering that serious questions have been raised about human rights offences in the United Arab Emirates, as well as accusations that City have been used for sportswashing purposes, claims which have been made by Amnesty International.

While City have invested heavily in personnel to run the club, none of their success in recent times would have been possible without the immense wealth of their owners.

But they’re not the only club backed by financial powerhouses, and our sister site NewcastleWorld recently took a look at how City’s owners compare with the other richest in world football.
