Haaland is one of the most prolific strikers in football, scoring 85 goals in 88 games for Dortmund in all competitions.

Now his future teammate Foden, who has occasionally been operating in a false-nine role for City this season, is relishing the chance to work alongside Haaland.

“It’s a great addition to the team,” Foden told Sky Sports.

“He’s one of the best finishers in world football at the moment, so it’s going to be great for us next season and hopefully he can help us.

“It’s such a big signing for the club. We’ve played without a striker this year and still done very well.

“He’s got a lot of physicality, loves to run in behind so I think he’ll be good for our game.”

Foden will be no stranger to Haaland when the latter joins the club next campaign, having played against him for England at youth level.

When asked if you can spot whether the likes of Haaland will be a future star at a young age, the Sky Blues no.47 said: “I actually played against him for England against Norway in the youth team.

“You can see the talent straight away from a young age.

“It’s a great experience to play against so many players that have gone on to have a good career in the same, so that always helps.”

Haaland won’t be the first of his family to wear the blues of Manchester, with his father Alf-Inge playing for the club between 2000 and 2003.
