Fabrizio Romano: Man City 'advance' with plans to make 'priority target' their first summer transfer

It is set to be another busy summer at Manchester City as the club prepare for the next stage of their squad overhaul with as many as five new signings. The Blues bolstered their squad with four new additions during the January transfer window and now want to add further strength to their first-team squad.
Manchester World understand City want to sign a new goalkeeper, a full-back and two midfielders as they look to get back on track under Pep Guardiola. City could yet finish the season with an FA Cup victory and Champions League qualification, but it sums up the recent success of the club that it would feel like a season of failure.

Man City advance with Gibbs-White deal
Man City have made it a priority to add an attacking midfielder to their squad this summer, with Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White viewed as a top target. There is also strong interest in Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz, though the former is the more likely to move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
City not only want to strengthen their squad in the coming months, they also want to trim the wage bill, something that will be significantly boosted by the impending exit of club legend Kevin de Bruyne. It is too much of a stretch to label Gibbs-White the potential replacement for such a star performer, but there is growing belief he will become the club's first signing of the summer window.
Taking to social media on Sunday morning, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano issued an encouraging update on City's pursuit of the Forest talisman. "Manchester City plan to advance on Morgan Gibbs-White deal in the next weeks as he remains one of the priority targets," he said. "No issues are expected on personal terms but work to do with Nottingham Forest as they still hope to keep MGW."
