The Football Association have made a decision after an event following Arsenal’s win over Manchester City. City lost to their likely title rivals thanks to a deflected Gabriel Martinelli strike late in the game. It was a game with few chances, with the two sides only managing three shots on target between them, but Mikel Arteta’s men nullified City’s attack and went on to secure all three points with luck on their side for the winner.

Arsenal now go into the international break level on points with leaders Tottenham, while City are two points worse off. But before moving on to matters international, the FA had a decision to make over a City player due to his actions after the game. Kyle Walker is the player in question, with the England international pretty aggressively refusing a post-match handshake from Nicolas Jover, the Arsenal set-piece coach who joined the Gunners from City, following Arteta.

The FA reviewed the incident but have decided not to take any further action, with BBC Sport’s Simon Stone tweeting: “FA not taking any action re the post-match incident involving Kyle Walker at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.”

Walker looked furious during the incident and had to be ushered down the tunnel, while Erling Haaland was also pretty unhappy. Pep Guardiola was asked about it after the game, but he preferred to keep it under wraps, saying: “I know what happened, but I won’t say anything.”

City were at risk of being charged for failure to control their players, but it looks as though the FA will dismiss it as post-match tension after a tough-to-take result. Ultimately, there was nothing more than some light shoving and shouting, and Arsenal will have taken it all with a chuckle after securing the all-important three points.

The decision could also have impacted United given City play them in two games time, and any suspension may have kept Walker out for that game, but the full-back has dodged such a fate.
