Haaland will see a £64m release clause enter his contract this summer, with the site adding Borussia Dortmund ‘anticipate’ Pep Guardiola’s side to activate this in the ‘coming days’.
However, it must be noted that the latter has shot down any suggestion of the Sky Blues looking to sign Haaland in the past.
What Guardiola has said on the deal
Guardiola was asked whether he is looking to sign Haaland this summer in his pre-match press conference last month, with the former refusing to add to the speculation.
“No answer to your question,” Guardiola said.

“I don’t have the concern or this business in my head right now to think about what is going to happen in this club next season,” Guardiola replied.
“We are playing with good striker this season, so I don’t know what is going to happen in the future. It’s next season, so I’m not going to talk.
“You know I’ve been coming here for a long time, for many years and I’ve never talked about transfer windows, especially when we are playing for incredible things still this season.”

The club’s director Sebastian Kehl told Sport1, via Fabrizio Romano: “Erling Haaland deal? I think we will have clarity on Erling in the next week.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved on in the end.”
Verdict
If City end up signing Halland this summer there’s no denying, especially with his impressive goalscoring record, that Guardiola’s side would be adding one of the world’s best strikers to their ranks.
The club are desperate to win the Champions League and Haaland could be the missing link that allows them to lift the prestigious trophy in the near future.
