Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is uncertain whether Erling Haaland will be fit to play this weekend. The Premier League champions are in action against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday but their main striker is a doubt.

The Norway international has been one of the most popular players to choose from in FPL this season due to his prolific goalscoring record but Fantasy Football players may now be scrambling around looking for alternative options. Speaking in Friday’s press conference, Guardiola said Haaland will be assessed after training and is therefore a doubt for the game: “He feels better but we train this afternoon and we will assess him in the next few hours. We will see how he is feeling and after we will decide.”

It leaves FPL players in limbo, unsure whether to trade the striker or take a possible hit for one week. But should any players decide to transfer Haaland out of their side, here are five potential replacements for the ex-Borussia Dortmund man...

Aleksandar Mitrovic, Fulham, £6.8m

The Serbia international has had no problems adapting to life back in the Premier League and is Fulham’s main attacking threat. He has nine to his name already and will be hungry for more against Frank Lampard’s Everton on Saturday evening.

Ivan Toney, Brentford, £7.2m

He’s relatively cheap but is always in with a shout of scoring for Brentford, especially from the penalty spot. The attacker has fired eight goals this season, only two fewer than Harry Kane, and is playing against struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers at home this weekend.

Callum Wilson, Newcastle United, £7.5m

Newcastle United have made a dream start to the 202/23 season and have Wilson to partly thank for that. He has bagged four so far and will be looking to add to his tally against 15th-place Aston Villa.

City’s former player has become a key man at Arsenal after his summer switch to the Emirates and is an ideal replacement up top for Haaland on FPL. The Brazilian has helped Mikel Arteta’s men rise to the top of the table by scoring five in 11 matches. He will line up against a Nottingham Forest team on Sunday who have been leaking goals since their promotion from the Championship.

Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur, £11.5m

The England ace has been in fine form so far this term and is a safe bet for FPL players looking to pick up some quick points. He has scored 10 league goals in 12 games and is taking on Bournemouth next.
