Man City now 'seriously considering' transfer options amid concern over Ederson's future
Serial-winning Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola faces arguably the most challenging summer transfer window of his managerial career as he aims to rebuild his faltering team and re-establish the group as the very best in English and European football.
City have won six league titles during his tenure, along with four League Cups, two FA Cups while achieving the pinnacle in 2023 by being crowned Champions League winners. But this year things have been very different and after nine defeats in 33 matches, City face a battle to even qualify for the Champions League after crashing out before the round-of-16 for the first time since 2012/13 when they were still getting to grips with the competition under Roberto Mancini after being drawn in the group of death. They are 21 points behind Champions elect Liverpool and are already preparing for life without arguably the best player in the club’s history in Kevin de Bruyne, with the Belgian confirming his desire to leave at the end of his contract.

The Brazilian arrived at City from Benfica in 2017 in a transfer that instantly coincided with a league title. However, he’s struggled to hit the same standards this term due to persistent injuries.
Will Ederson leave Manchester City this summer?
According to Football Insider, Ederson’s recent injury woes could accelerate City’s plans to sign a new goalkeeper, with a potential new arrival coming in this summer.
Ederson has been a part of all six title winning teams under Pep Guardiola and has made the Premier League Team of the Season on two occasions. He’s been a pivotal part of the club’s success and has been vital in the team’s player with his ability to play the ball out from the back with ease and enable his team to play a high press.
However, this term, he’s struggled to hit the same heights and has missed 17 games due to either injury or rotation. The 31-year-old is out with a hip problem, leaving Stefan Ortega as the man between the posts for the time being, and despite the German’s consistency when called upon, it’s expected Guardiola will look for a long-term solution in goal.

Ederson is reportedly the subject of interest from a number of Saudi Pro League clubs, who are willing to spend big to convince the 31-year-old to leave the north-west of England. As it stands, however, despite the speculation Ederson has claimed he’s committed to the cause.
“It’s been a very unusual season, especially considering everything we’ve produced in recent years, things that aren’t normal either,’ Ederson told ESPN Brazil. “But this season has been very, very difficult. A lot of injuries, individual performances not good. But that’s football, you can’t always give your best.
“If we were at our best, we’d definitely be fighting for the Premier League title. Our main goal is to qualify for the Champions League because next season the players win, the club wins, everyone wins.More money for the club, more prestige to play this competition. It would be a big blow if we didn’t qualify.”
