Netherlands international goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar has issued a come and get me plea to Manchester City ahead of the January transfer window.

The Dutch star told Dutch site NOSvoetbal she is interested in a move to the Women’s Super League in the near future and admitted “Manchester City has always been my dream club”.

“I am still at FC Twente, I still have a one-year contract there and that club must also agree to a possible transfer,” she told the football site. “My good intention for the new year is to become champion with FC Twente and to get as far as possible at the World Cup.”

However, when discussing her future following the 2023 World Cup shortly afterwards, she added: “England (Women’s Super League) really is my dream competition. If that is the case, it would be a dream” before claiming City would be her dream move, even adding the club “can always call” her.

One of the stars of last summer’s European Championship, van Domselaar broke into the Netherlands squad unexpectedly when legendary ‘keeper Sari van Veenendaal was ruled out with injury.

Despite only earning one cap, the 22-year-old stopper was given the nod to start the tournament where her outstanding displays were heralded by fans and pundits alike and earned her a new deal with FC Twente, commiting her future to the club till the summer of 2023.

She has since become the undisputed Netherlands number one and has saw her stock within the game continue to grow, leaving van Domselaar’s future almost certain to be away from Dutch champions FC Twente come May.

However with England internationals Ellie Roebuck and Sandy MacIver both tied down to the club beyond this, van Domselaar’s dream move to City would be far from straight forward, especially with head coach Gareth Taylor previously saying he is more than content with the goalkeeping options he has within his ranks.
