Manchester City defender Demi Stokes has agreed a one year contract extension with the club.

The left back, who has 69 caps for the Lionesses, will enter her ninth year in the blue of City after signing the extension and could pass the 200 league appearances mark in the coming season.

"I'm excited to get going again given what last season ended like" said the 31-year-old.

"I'm ready to go again and I'm grateful I've been given the opportunity to keep doing what I love doing. Last year was one of the most difficult seasons I've had with injury, illness and a life changing moment as well. It's good to get that reset button and I'm ready to go again and kick on.

"This summer I have a good chunk of time where I can work on myself, my weakness and work on my strengths and push on".

Stoke also admitted she was happy to have her future secured after starting a family last year with her partner.

"I think I've always had City as my home and Manchester as my home so it was a no brainer. To be able to stay here and extend and be around for the family makes me happy.

"I'm just grateful I can continue my career here and my journey here".
