Manchester City have completed a deal to sign Brazilian teenager Savinho, according to reports on Friday.

Reliable transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano tweeted to say that it was a ‘done deal’ and the transfer was ‘completed and confirmed’.

Romano said the transfer would cost City €6.5m plus add-ons and sell-on. Interestingly, he added that Savinho would join the ‘City Group’ this summer.

The City Football Group own 10 clubs over four continents, and the wording of Romano’s tweet does raise the possibility he could join the Premier League champions and then be sent to one of their feeder clubs.

Savinho’s transfer is reminiscent of the deal which saw Gabriel Jesus sign for the Sky Blues in 2016, before joining in 2017.

At the time he was a relatively unknown teenger, but has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the club and score 88 times.

Likewise, Kayky joined City last summer and has made two appearances for the senior side. The 18-year-old is still adapting to life in England and has mainly played for City’s underage team, but could have an important role at the club in the years to come.

Who is Savinho?

The teenage protege is also known as Savio, and plays up front. The Brazilian tends to operate from the right wing, where he can cut inside on his stronger left foot, but he’s also comfortable playing on the other flank or through the middle.

Savinho was linked with Arsenal earlier this year, as well as RB Leipzig and the Red Bull franchise.

City’s imminent signing has played for Brazil’s Under-18 side and has earned three caps. Savinho has also played for the Under-16s national team, scoring four times from six appearances.

The attacker has played on 23 occasions for Atletico Minero, but is yet to score for the Brazilian side.
