Date every Man City player’s contract expires & 4 who could leave on free transfers next summer

Two Manchester City first-team stars also look set to depart this summer when their deals terminate.

It looks set to be a busy summer of transfer activity at Manchester City, with plenty of arrivals expected.

Erling Haaland’s deal has been announced in principle and the striker is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.

Julian Alvarez is in a similar situation, with the young Argentinian’s transfer confirmed in January and he will also join up with the City squad this summer.

In a recent interview, club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak confirmed that the Premier League champions will conclude more business ahead of the 2022/23 season, with a new full-back, holding midfielder and striker likely to be the key areas City look to strengthen.

Of course, even the best prepared and well organised transfer plans can be hastily changed if a player departs the club, and there are several first-team stars who have been heavily linked with moves away from the Etihad this summer.

Modern transfers are also hugely influenced by contract expiry dates and the likes of Paul Pogba, Antonio Rudiger and Paulo Dybala are all likely to seal free transfers this summer when their respective deals terminate.

In addition, players entering the final 12 months of their contracts are often seen as more attainable assets, a situation which currently applies to four City players.

There are also two senior stars whose deals expire in the coming weeks and could leave for free, so we’ve had a look at the contract situations of every first-team player at City and how long they are tied down to the club.
