Ansell represented the toughest test of the super-lightweight’s career, certainly on paper, having won 10 and lost four of his fights before Saturday night.

The huge Manchester City fan entered the action to a mash-up of club anthem Blue Moon and Oasis. He was supported by his dad and is trained by his uncle Matthew Hatton, a decorated fighter in his day who won European honours and challenged for a world title.

Having turned professional at a relatively young age, Hatton continues to learn on the job, but will likely be targeting domestic titles sooner rather than later.

Other fights on the Joshua-Helenius undercard include Derek Chisora’s meeting with Gerald Washington and a third heavyweight fight on the bill of Filip Hrgovic against Demsey McKean.
