Manchester City return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon following the international break.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways with their last league game ending 0-0 against Crystal Palace.

They now travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, with the Sky Blues sat top of the table, one point ahead of second-place Liverpool, with nine fixtures remaining.

Guardiola, who has guided City to three league titles in the last five seasons, will need his team to not slip up on Saturday, with Liverpool able to overtake them at the top of the table.

The Catalan will likely provide team news in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

With that being said, let’s take a look at three things we spotted in Sky Blues’ training ahead of their clash with the Clarets.

Precaution no more

John Stones was spotted taking part in City training just a few days after withdrawing from England’s squad due to a ‘precaution’.

The defender has featured at centre-back and right-back under Guardiola this season and based on his involvement in training, could be in line to play on Saturday.

Clean sheet guarantee?

Another player who withdrew from their respected country’s squad was Ederson. The shot-stopper didn’t play part in Brazil’s latest international games due to illness.

City’s no.31 has kept 16 clean sheets so far this campaign, the joint-most in the league, and will be hoping to make that a 17th if selected against Burnley.

No Steffen

Guardiola’s second-choice goalkeeper Zack Steffen wasn’t spotted in training. The 26-year-old is yet to return from international duty with the United States.

He started in their last three World Cup qualifiers, including their 2-0 loss to Costa Rica yesterday.
