Arsenal star Bukayo Saka will undergo further tests on Thursday to determine whether he might be available to face Manchester City in Sunday's Premier League encounter, according to reports.

The division’s top two sides from last season meet at the Emirates this weekend, with City currently one point clear at the top of the table. And the Gunners suffered a huge injury blow on Tuesday as Saka was replaced with an issue in the 34th minute of the Champions League group-stage loss to Lens.

Mikel Arteta said after the game that the winger’s injury ‘doesn’t look good’ and he is now a major doubt for the top-of-the-table encounter at the Emirates.

Yet the Daily Mail claim Saka is ‘not being completely ruled out’ of Sunday’s game, even if his involvement would represent a risk. The 22-year-old underwent a scan on Wednesday and is set for further medical tests on Thursday, with medics hopeful the injury isn’t serious.

The Mail add Gareth Southgate is being kept informed on Saka’s fitness as the Three Lions boss prepares to name his latest England squad on Thursday, for the upcoming fixtures against Australia and Italy.

Should Saka miss out on the City match at the weekend, it would bring to an end his run of 87 consecutive league starts for Arsenal. With Gabriel Martinelli also a doubt, Arteta may have to find an alternative set-up in the wide areas, with Fabio Vieira and Leandro Trossard the most obvious candidates to start on the wings.
