Manchester City attacker Ben Knight has joined Crewe Alexandra on loan until the end of the season.

Knight, who made his senior debut for the club during the Community Shield loss to Leicester City earlier this month, can operate as a central striker or from the right wing.

He joined City from Ipswich Town in 2018 and has played in the Under-18 and Under-23 sides in that time. The loan move will mark his first opportunity to play regularly at a senior level.

Knight has been capped by various England youth teams and started in all three of the club’s warm-up fixtures, scoring in the 4-0 victory over Barnsley.

The 19-year-old could make his debut for Crewe on Tuesday night, with the League One side facing Oxford United in their third league fixture of the season.

The Railwaymen started the campaign with an opening-day draw at home to Cheltenham, before losing to Portsmouth last weekend.

Knight could face a Premier League opponent next week when Crewe take on Leeds United in the second round of the League Cup.
