A second successive hat-trick from Erling Haaland, a brace from fellow new signing Julian Alvarez, and a fine strike from Joao Cancelo helped the Cityzens to a six-goal lead in midweek.

Pep Guardiola and his team will now be hoping to build on their early season success with a win over Aston Villa, who have been struggling of late.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard is under severe pressure having lost four of the opening five games, including a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday at Arsenal.

It’s bound to be an intense atmosphere at Villa Park and if City were to gain an early lead, things could turn sour within the ground.
