Former strikers Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker were among those who praised the impact of Erling Haaland on Wednesday night, after the Norwegian once again produced a match-winning moment for Manchester City.

The match ultimately ended 2-1 in favour of Pep Guardiola’s men, after John Stones had already ruled out Jude Bellingham’s opener.
But Haaland’s winner was simply sensational as the attacker stretched his leg to a ball that was about shoulder height, and somehow managed to poke it into the back of the net from a superb Joao Cancelo cross.

Shearer took to Twitter after the game and wrote: “@ErlingHaaland what a finish that is,” along with some clapping hands emojis.
As for Lineker, he tweeted: “A spectacularly acrobatic goal from @ErlingHaaland against his former club. He’s a goal machine.”

Hide AdHaaland’s goal on Wednesday means he has now become the youngest player in Champions League history to score for and against the same side.
It also leaves Haaland on a ludicrous 26 goals from 21 matches in the competition, while that’s 13 in nine matches for City since his summer move.
The win also ensures City stay top of Group G, something which looked unlikely for long spells of the game. Copenhagen and Sevilla drew 0-0 on Wednesday, giving them a point apiece after two games, while City are on six and Dortmund have three.
