Manchester City have reportedly agreed personal terms with Josko Gvardiol ahead of a proposed move which could cost €100m.

The centre-back joined RB Leipzig two years ago and is contracted with the German club until the summer of 2027, having previously played for Dinamo Zagreb.

Fabrizio Romano reports City have agreed terms with the player with talks to commence between the two clubs. Leipzig do not want to sell the player but will sanction a deal for €100m, which would make the 21-year-old the most expensive centre-back in history.

He has played 87 times for Leipzig in his two seasons with the club, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Sky Sports Germany have reported City have already made an offer of €90m as a ‘base fee’ with bonuses also included to increase the potential final price.

Gvardiol’s arrival would likely spell the end of Aymeric Laporte’s time at City, with reports the club are opening to offers for the defender, who has two years remaining on his deal. Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with moves for the player.

Although, Football Insider claim Laporte has rejected a move to Spurs, with the North London club not competing in Europe next season.

City have also been linked with a move for West Ham star Declan Rice as they seek to bolster their options after clinching an historic treble.

The Hammers have already rejected two bids from Arsenal for the England international, with the latest worth up to £90m. West Ham want £100m for the midfielder.

City are said to want assurances from Rice’s camp before making an official bid for the player, according to the Mirror. Arsenal are reported to be preparing a third offer closer to West Ham’s asking price, amid claims Rice prefers a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The club have also been strongly linked with a move for Chelsea’s Mateo Kovačić, with the player expected to complete a transfer to the Etihad Stadium.
