Manchester United have been told what they must do if they want to complete a deal to sign Nice’s highly-rated defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

The classy centre-back has firmly established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most consistent defenders since joining Nice from Barcelona on an initial loan deal in February 2021 before making that a permanent switch just six months later.

Todibo’s form has captured the attention of several clubs around Europe after the likes of Newcastle, Liverpool and Fulham were all linked with a move for his services during the summer. His rise to prominence continued this week when he earned his first senior cap for France and there is ongoing speculation Erik ten Hag will make another move to sign the defender during the January transfer window.

However, Todibo has insisted he will only consider a move away from Nice if he is offered a ‘complete project’ by any club willing to make a move for his services.

He told French outlet L’Equipe: “Reflection is much more important for me than when I started out. I am waiting to be presented with a complete project. What is expected of me? Why am I coming? You shouldn’t join a club just like that.”

Hammers considered summer move for Man City winger

West Ham United manager David Moyes has revealed he was keen on a deal for Belgium star Jeremy Doku prior to his move to Manchester City.

The former Rennes winger joined the reigning Premier League champions in a reported £55m deal last month and grabbed his first City goal in Saturday’s 3-1 win against the Hammers. However, Moyes has revealed things could have been very different had he followed up his interest in Doku during the summer.

“Doku, yes (he’s incredible),” he said in his post match press conference following Saturday’s defeat against City.

“Doku we liked a lot. We played against him in pre-season and he caused us a problem in pre-season playing on the right. He can play both sides, very direct, very good one-v-one, so yes (that’s why we wanted him).

“He was a handful all game.”
