Liverpool are reportedly no longer pursuing a deal to sign the 19-year-old which is a boost to United and City’s hopes. As per Sky Sports, their boss Jurgen Klopp has said: “There’s nothing to say about it to be honest. If we don’t speak about players we sign or not, why would we now speak about this kind of speculation and this kind of news? It’s really nothing to say about.

“It’s not about Jude Bellingham my answer now - why do we constantly talk about things we theoretically can’t have? We cannot have six players in the summer for £100m [each], for example, everybody would say that’s clear.”

He added: “I don’t know why we talk about things we theoretically can’t have. If a child says he wants a Ferrari for Christmas, you say we can’t afford it and you can’t drive! What we need and what we want, we try absolutely everything to go and get it.”

Real Madrid in frame

La Liga giants Real Madrid are said to be in the frame to sign Bellingham. According to ESPN, they are ‘interested’ in landing the youngster ahead of the next campaign. They have endured a tough year and are sat in 2nd in the table behind Barcelona. Nevertheless, they are still in the Champions League.

United favourite Paul Scholes believes his former club have a chance of winning the race but thinks they will just come up short in the end. He said on BT Sport: “I think they [Man Utd] are contenders [to sign him]. If you went back a couple of years you’d have said no chance. Even back to the start of this season. But now I think they have to be. He would look at this team and think this is up and coming for the next few years.

“I do think he’ll sign for Real Madrid - I don’t know why. I’ve just got that feeling. But I do hope he comes here [Old Trafford]. He could make United a proper team.”
