Everyone loves a freebie, and especially when it involves good food.
This week there are two helpings of free grub being dished out across Manchester.
Here’s what you need to know.
Free fish and chips
One of Britain’s most enduring takeaway treats is being handed out for free in Piccadilly Gardens at 11am on Tuesday (September 21).
Breakdown cover provider Green Flag is dishing up the fried fish to celebrate 50 years in business.
The company is going back to its roots as its first headquarters was above a fish and chip shop.

All people have to do to grab their free lunch is collect a voucher and then redeem it at the van run by The Frying Squad.
However, anyone looking to get a portion will have to be prompt as it is first come first served and there are only 300 portions being doled out.
Recent research revealed fish and chips is regarded as the most British dish of all time, securing some 69 per cent of the vote and beating a full English breakfast (60 per cent) and a Sunday roast (57 per cent) to the post.
Doughnuts for Fresher’s Week
Fortunate freshers at the University of Salford are also in line for some free munching in the shape of doughnuts.
Food ordering app Foodhub is bringing its doughnut truck to campus on Friday (24 September) to hand out the sweet treats to the university’s newest students.

However, students will need to have the app downloaded onto their phone in order to claim their delicious dessert.
One lucky student is also in line to win a £100 voucher to spend on a fresher’s food feast for them and their new friends.
