Happy Mondays star and Dancing on Ice 2022 contestant Mark ‘Bez’ Berry will has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss one week of training.

Luckily, the ITV show will not be thrown into too much chaos, as Bez was not scheduled to take to the ice this coming Sunday, as he was one half of the 12 new celebrity contestants to perform on Sunday 16 January.

Due to new Covid-19 regulations surrounding self-isolation, Bez should be able to continue his training Sunday, if he tests negative on Saturday, due to his positive test returning on Monday, January 17.

The Bolton-born star made history as he became the first ever contestant in 14 seasons of the show to perform with a crash helmet on, and fans went wild with the display, and judge Ashley Banjo admitted he had ‘huge respect’ for Bez to go out and perform.

Bez, who is more known these days for his appearances on Gogglebox alongside long-term friend Shaun Ryder, told the Daily Star: “I’ve had a positive test, I’m gutted because I’m going to be missing training but I’m looking forward to skating on the show again for week three and I’ll be tuning in at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend.”

Last year, the series was thrown into chaos due to coronavirus with Joe Warren-Plant, Vanessa Bauer and Rufus Hound having to leave the show early after testing positive.

This comes after Bez took to the ice, donning a melon-patterned helmet and unfortunately just scoring a lowly 12.5. He is partnered with Angela Egan, who managed to win last year’s Covid-hit series with celebrity partner Sonny Jay, who is known for his role at Capital FM.
