Dancing On Ice has been confirmed by ITV to return to our screens on Sunday 16 January with 12 new celebrities hopeful of lifting the trophy.

This is the fourteenth series of the show.

Despite the hardships faced by last year’s show with injuries and positive Covid-19 tests, the long-running lived up to expectations with Capital FM’s Sonny Jay along with partner Angela Egan lifted the trophy, after pipping Matt Evers and Faye Brookes to win.

The series will see celebrities team up with professional skaters, skating live each week in a bid to impress the judges, and of course the viewers at home who play a massive part in the eventual winners.

A great line-up, with a new judge, it looks to be a promising series.

Legendary skating duo Christopher Dean and Jane Torvill will return, alongside returning judge Ashley Banjo and they will be joined by new judge Oti Mabuse, who is most known for her involvement with Strictly Come Dancing.

Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield will host the show.

Those with Manchester links taking part this year are Sally Dynevor and Ben Foden.

Foden, who hails from Chester, Cheshire, is a rugby star who used to play for Sale Sharks. His career began back in 2004, and he is still currently playing. His professional career began when he was 18, making 50 appearances for the Sale Sharks over four years. He left the Sharks in 2008, and embarked on a 10-year career with the Northampton Saints, registering 250 appearances. Since 2019, he has been with Rugby United New York.

He has also been capped 34 times for England between 2009 and 2013.

Actress Sally is best known for her role as Sally Metcalfe in Coronation Street.

Dynevor is one of the show’s longest and most loved characters, and has been on the show since 1986.

Her character has faced her own hardships, where she was framed and subsequently jailed, and divorced from husband and father of her kids Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell)

It seems as if the acting gene is rife in the family, as Sally’s real-life daughter, Pheobe Dynevor, recently starred in the Netflix hit show Bridgerton.

Both Dynevor, 58 and Foden, 36, will be on our screens from next Sunday.
