And Stockport-born Simon Gregson, who was a new arrival on set with Eastenders’ Adam Woodyatt last week, is already one of the bookies’ favourites to win.

Simon, who plays Steve McDonald on the famous cobbles, is now the second favourite, with betting giants William Hill currently giving out 5/2 odds on him to win.

Former footballer David Ginola is still leading the way, with bookies offering 9-4 on the Frenchman.

Emmerdale veteran Danny Miller was the early favourite, but is now an outsider to win at 10/1.
