Love Island 2023: who is Kai Fagan’s famous Corrie relative and what is his link to Marcus Rashford?

The winter edition of Love Island kicked off on Monday night (16 January) with a new batch of singletons entering the villa in South Africa in the hope of finding love.

One man looking to find the love of his life is Manchester resident Kai Fagan, who has ties to a long-standing member of the ITV soap Coronation Street and Marcus Rashford.

The launch of the dating show saw Kai enter the villa and step forward to be matched with Anna-May Robey.

He then recoupled with ring girl Olivia Hawkins, who ‘stole’ him while making her selection, despite Kai not having stepped forward for her.

Kai then ditched Olivia by stepping forward for hairstylist Tanyel Revan, from North London.

Who is Kai Fagan?

Kai Fagan is 24 years old and is from Manchester, but is also a Jamaican citizen.

Before entering the villa, he worked as a science and PE teacher and played semi-professional rugby for Burnage RFC.

Kai has also played rugby 7s for Jamaica in the past.

Who is Kai’s famous relative?

Kai is about to become a well-known figure after appearing on national television, but he’s had a brush with celebrities in the past.

Kai revealed that his cousin Dean Fagan was a regular on the cobbles of Weatherfield in the ITV soap Coronation Street.

Dean Fagan portrayed the mechanic Luke Britton between 2014 and 2018.

Kai told The Express: “So it’s my second cousin.

“He was on Coronation Street, I can’t remember who he played, I know he worked in the garage and he got killed.

“I don’t think I am much of an actor, I’m not closing any doors on anything right now but it is not something I have ever even thought about, probably not but the door is always open.”

The Love Island star also went to school with Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford, and the pair were in the same class.

Speaking about his claim to fame, he said: “I went to school with Marcus Rashford, and we were in the same class. The school I went to was sponsored by Manchester United - I had so many experiences because of that.”

What is Kai looking for on Love Island?

Kai is hoping to find a real connection with a woman during his time in the villa.

The singleton admits he has “quite high expectations” and has struggled to find his dream girl so far.

He explained: “I’m looking for the right girl. I feel like I have quite high expectations. I don’t feel I should commit to someone unless I’m absolutely buzzing over them because it’s not fair on them.”
