A new fusion restaurant is coming to Urmston that combines cuisines from India and Scotland, offering unique dishes such as haggis pakoras and tattie fritters.

Roti, which already has one location in Sale and previously had another in Chorlton which closed in January, opens on Monday 12 May. They describe their dining style as “social eating,” with a menu of small plates, or “Indian tapas,” designed for sharing.

Some of the exciting fusion dishes on the menu include and Indian-style Scotch egg seasoned with seven different spices, their version of a chip butty with aloo and chickpea in a roti, a mini fish and masala chips, and mince and tatties with spiced pork and chole potatoes. You can also get a battered spiced sausage and masala chips with Edinburgh salt and sauce, as well as the haggis pakoras.

Prices for the small plates range from £6.50 for dishes like the ‘wee’ puri parcels and sweet and sticky gobi manchurian, to £9 for the Roti Sinzer Bangra Burger, which includes spiced chicken, tattie fritters and tandoori mayo.

The fusion theme continues on the drinks menu as well, with some interesting “twisted classic” cocktails and original creations. These include the Negroni Irn-Bru, which is topped off with Scotland’s favourite soft drink, or the Rum Veer Rum, which has dark rum, mint, coconut and mango syrup, and pineapple juice.

There is also a selection of wines, G&Ts and beers, both draught and bottled, as well as four different flavours of lassi, which are £3.50 with the option to add a shot of liquor for an additional £3.
