Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer will both leave Manchester United when their loan deals expire with the club not planning on making either of the moves permanent.

According to the Daily Mail, United manager Erik ten Hag is keen to ‘upgrade’ up front and in midfield with the Red Devils set to play Champions League football next season.

It comes as little surprise to see Weghorst moved on as the Burnley striker has struggled in front of goal since joining the club on loan in January.

He scored two goals in all competitions but failed to net in 17 Premier League games, as United finished third in the table.

Ten Hag is targeting moves for Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, with the pair both among the deadliest strikers in Europe this season.

Kane netted 30 Premier League goals for a Tottenham Hotspur side who finished eighth and failed to qualify for European football. He was only beaten to the golden boot by Erling Haaland who netted 36 times in a stellar debut season for Man City.

Osimhen is being eyed by a number of clubs after playing a key role in Napoli’s Serie A title win, as he scored 25 goals and provided five assists in 31 league games.

Sabitzer is poised to return to Bayern Munich, having arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day in January as cover for the injured Christian Eriksen.

He has appeared to play his last game for the club as his season was ended by injury two weeks ago and he will not return in time for the FA Cup final.

Sabitzer had hinted earlier this season that he wanted to remain with the club.

He said in April: “This is initially a project until the summer, then we’ll see. Until then, I want to give everything here. It’s a loan deal with no options. The situation will be assessed in the summer.

“But I can say for myself, I have found my place here. I know the Premier League now and I can say there is nothing better, more intense and tougher.

“Every game is a fight, everything goes faster. This is the best league in the world. Once you’ve played here, you know - it’s incomparable here.”
