A new dementia café has opened in Didsbury at a Jewish community village which specialises in dementia care

A new café for those living with dementia - and their loved ones - has opened in Didsbury. Hosted by Belong Morris Feinmann - the dementia specialist primarily caring for the Jewish community - the dementia café runs once a month and gives guests a chance to enjoy a range of experiences, form new friendships, and seek support.

The programme includes arts and crafts workshops, pet therapy, specialist exercise classes and visits from musical performers. Admiral Nurses are also on hand to provide a dedicated dementia service, helping dementia patients and their loved ones manage a future living with the condition.

We went down to speak to the organiser of the café, a man who’s mother has been diagnosed with dementia, and a charity worker from World Jewish Relief to hear more about its benefit to the community.
