The Red Devils know there is little margin for error from this point, having given up a healthy advantage to allow Liverpool back into the top four race. Erik ten Hag’s men are still one point ahead with a game in-hand, but with Liverpool gaining confidence, United can’t afford to give them chance to make up even more ground.

As the Red Devils prepare to face Bournemouth, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding Old Trafford.

Butland option

United are said to be willing to offer Jack Butland a large salary as they look to snap up the former Stoke City star permanently.

Butland is currently on loan from Crystal Palace, and it’s claimed by the Scottish Sun that Red Devils are looking to make another goalkeeper signing to compete with David De Gea. It’s claimed the likes of Dominik Livakovic is being considered, but there is also the option of keeping Butland on a permanent deal.

But with other clubs also interested in the 30-year-old, it’s reported United could offer to double the former England international’s wages.

Speaking of big wages, United are said to be considering offering defender Lisandro Martinez a new contract after just one year.

Martinez has been a sensation during his first year at Old Trafford, and United feel his current wage doesn’t match his contribution. In a bid to tie the Argentine down long-term and to keep other clubs away, Sky Sports report Martinez could be offered an improved contract.

As things stand, Martinez is under contract until 2027, and it’s reported that part of the deal would see the defender extend his contract even further, a move that will surely delight United fans going into this summer.
