Manchester United will reportedly target a move for England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford if they are unable to agree a new deal with David de Gea.

The long-serving Red Devils stopper is currently in talks over extending his 12-year stay at Old Trafford as his current contract approaches its final two months. Recent reports have suggested the Spain international will have to accept a ‘significant reduction’ in his £375,000-a-week deal as discussions over an extension continue.

However, the Daily Star have reported United manager Erik ten Hag is ‘looking at his options’ in a bid to plan for life without De Gea next season. Holland and Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen is mentioned as a possible target but England number one Pickford is also said to be on ‘the wanted list’ ahead of the summer transfer window. The former Sunderland stopper committed his future to the Toffees earlier this season but a sizable offer could tempt the Goodison Park club into agreeing to a deal.

England captain Harry Kane is believed to be United’s main target this summer as they look to boost their options at the top end of the pitch.

The Tottenham Hotspur frontman recently moved beyond Red Devils legend Wayne Rooney in the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring ranks and now lies just 51 goals behind Alan Shearer. There have been suggestions his bid to overhaul the former Newcastle United striker could take its next steps at Old Trafford after Kane was strongly linked with a move to United.

But The Mirror have now claimed there is a ‘fear’ Erik ten Hag is facing a losing battle to tempt the England skipper away from North London and is ready to switch his attention to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is said to be ready to reject any offer from Paris Saint Germain as he prefers a move to the Premier League.

Kane currently has one year left on his current deal at Spurs and is believed to be ‘unlikely’ to extend his time with his boyhood club. However, the North London outfit are hoping they can play on Kane’s loyalty and persuade him to agree to a new contract.
