Everton have been handed a big boost in terms of player fitness ahead of their looming clash against Manchester City.

Club captain Seamus Coleman has provided a positive update on his injury after being stretchered off against Leicester City earlier this week. The left-back was fouled by Boubakary Soumaré and taken off just before half-time.

Pep Guardiola’s side will come up against Leeds United before their visit to Goodison Park, and Everton will face Brighton and Hove Albion in the lead up. It looked uncertain whether the Toffees would have Coleman back due to his knee injury, but he has confirmed on Instagram that there is “no ACL damage” and he expects to “be back soon.”

Man City, who leapfrogged back into first place following their win over West Ham on Wednesday, will need to bank as many points as possible if they want to claim their third consecutive Premier League title. They have won nine of their last ten league fixtures, including a statement 4-1 victory over Arsenal.

Everton on the other hand, are desperately trying to avoid relegation as the season draws to a close. As it stands, they are 19th in the table and have won just six games throughout the entire term. They have also scored the least amount of goals across the league, with just 27 on the board so far.

Man City have scored more goals than any other team this season with 87, and Erling Haaland is responsible for 35 of those. The Norwegian striker celebrated yet another milestone moment in a sky blue shirt on Wednesday, when he smashed Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s record of most goals scored in a single Premier League season.

After Leeds United and Everton, City will take on Chelsea and Brighton, before ending the season against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
