The Trafford Centre is always a big draw over the bank holiday weekends, both with shoppers indulging in a bit of retail therapy and for families looking to enter the kids at attractions such as Legoland and Sea Life Manchester.

There is also a newly revamped River Island clothing store re-opening just ahead of the bank holiday, with the official reopening being held on Friday 5 May at its shop in the upper Regent Crescent area. There will be a pop-up florist studio, a coffee cart and the first 100 shoppers to spend £75 will get a goodie bag - plus a treasure hunt where you can find gift cards.

Opening hours can vary over bank holidays according to individual stores and restaurants, so visitors are advised to check in advance with individual retailers on three bank holidays if you are making a special visit for one store.

However, the general May bank holiday opening times for the Trafford Centre on each of the Bank Holiday Mondays (1 May, 8 May and 31 May) will be 10am to 8pm. On the Saturdays of the three bank holiday weekends, the centre is open 10am to 9pm. On the Sundays of the bank holiday weekends, the centre is open from 12pm to 6pm.

What’s on at the Trafford Centre over May Bank holidays?

Until 4 June, the Trafford Centre is hosting its annual Spring Escape. This includes a massive funfair with all the classic rides and more. You can pre-book tickets online from £2.50 per person.
