How does the net worth of the parties bidding to buy the Red Devils compare to their Premier League rivals?

The next step in the bidding process for Manchester United has arrived after United States-based Elliott Management progressed to the second stage of a prospective takeover.

The likes of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and a Qatari consortium fronted by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani have both signalled their intent to enter the process of buying the 13-time Premier League champions and are believed to have lodged bids in recent weeks.

But the most recent reports released on Friday morning have revealed it is Elliott Management - a hedge fund set up by billionaire Paul Singer in 1977 - that are the first to progress to the next stage.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Salekol tweeted: “Elliott Management have made it through to the second stage of the Man United sale process. US hedge fund has submitted proposal for financing which is open to all parties. They don’t want to buy United. Representatives from Elliott were at United game at Old Trafford last night (against Real Betis)”.
