Manchester City have been drawn against holders Liverpool at home in round four of the Carabao Cup. Pep Guardiola’s side face a tricky test against the Reds at the Etihad Stadium next month.

They beat Chelsea 2-0 earlier this week courtesy of goals from Riyah Mahrez and Julian Alvarez. City have won the competition eight times in their history, with four coming in the last five years under Guardiola.

When will the game be held?

City will take on Liverpool on the week commencing 19th December, with an official date to be announced in due course. The match will therefore be taking place just after the World Cup final and only a few days before Christmas.

Guardiola’s men face Brentford at home this weekend in their last clash before the break, and a whole host of their players are set to head off to Qatar.

Other fixtures

Manchester United have been drawn against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at Old Trafford. The former Belgium star has guided the Clarets to the top of the Championship and will be looking to knock out his old foes.

In-form Newcastle United will take on their boss Eddie Howe’s former club Bournemouth at home as they look to continue their impressive start to the new season.
