Manchester United now face a long wait to return to action following their disappointing defeat at the hands of Brighton.

Ralf Rangnick’s men could now be left with Europa Conference League football next season, after handing the advantage to West Ham with their poor display on the south coast.

They can only sit and wait for the best part of two week as their rivals play out their games in hand.

United face Crystal Palace on the 22nd of this month, and they will be hoping to have the chance to have reclaimed their advantage in the race for Europa League by that point.

But as we wait for the top six race to play out, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news surrounding Old Trafford:

Offer ready

United are said to be readying a bid for Sporting CP centre-back Gonçalo Ignácio.

The Red Devils are believed to be monitoring a number of central defenders, and A Bola via Sports Witness say Ignacio has caught the eye, despite being just 20 years of age.

According to the report, United could be readying an offer as big as €45million as they look to strengthen their back line.

Argentine starlet

The Red Devils are said to be battling a number of clubs for a talented young Argentine.

According to Diario AS, a number of clubs around Europe are battling to land Club Atletico Colon star Facundo Farias this summer.

Along with United, Italian trio Roma, Udinese, Sassuolo are said to be chasing the 19-year-old, while PSG and Porto are also mentioned.

Free agent watch

United are expected to spend significantly this summer, but they are also eyeing some smart business.

According to The Sun, United’s chiefs have asked the club’s scots to find the best available free agents on the market this summer.

Some smart free signings could supplement the club’s bigger business nicely, and if the reports are true, it marks a slight change in direction with United having found little success in the market over recent years.
