Sports Direct is to take over the old BHS store in Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre.
The discount leisure retailer has signed a 15-year lease on the unit and move from its current outlet in the mall - in a move which will see it double its size of store.

Stationery specialist Paperchase is also set to open a store in the Arndale, it has been confirmed.
It comes off the back of a number of new arrivals at the centre in the last year, including Debenhams.com, Tommy Hilfiger, Canada Goose, Kurt Geiger, Kick Game and Carvela.
Scott Linard, portfolio director at M&G Real Estate, said: “Sports Direct is a key driver of footfall for the centre, as it appeals to Manchester’s love of sport and especially to the younger demographic in the city.

“Despite the challenges faced by the retail industry over the past few years, Manchester Arndale has remained resilient throughout the pandemic, completing 25 new leases throughout 2020 and 2021.”
Sports Direct is due to open its new branch later this year.
