Free lateral flow tests could face the axe under proposals understood to be being considered by the Government.
The new idea could mean free tests being provided only in high-risk settings such as care homes, hospitals and schools, and to people with symptoms.

Hide AdThe concept has not been brought forward yet but the Sunday Times has reported concerns in Whitehall about the cost of the tests, which were in high demand over the Christmas period.
Currently, tests can be collected for free from local pharmacies and other venues.
