Manchester and the surrounding area is full of beautiful spots to explore whether you are a local or tourist. Yet this hasn’t stopped locations in the region being picked on a shortlist for the worst place to live in England in 2023.

Website ILiveHere gave readers the chance to submit options at the end of 2022 for the worst place to live for the year ahead. The options can now be voted on and there are options for towns and cities in Greater Manchester.

Manchester itself has been shortlisted. The city is one of several locations to feature on the list.

The Greater Manchester towns of Rochdale and Bolton are also included. These two towns are joined by the nearby towns of Macclesfield and Blackburn.

The winner of the 2022 unofficial title was Ayelesbury. The Buckinghamshire town topped last year’s list, announced last January, and is a current contender on the 2023 vote.

Listed below is the full top 10 from the 2022 vote. All will be hoping to avoid a repeat appearance on this year’s list and no areas of the West Midlands made it to the top 10 last year.

  1. Aylesbury
  2. Huddersfield
  3. Luton
  4. Liverpool
  5. Peterborough
  6. Bolton
  7. Corby
  8. Jaywick
  9. Slough
  10. Bradford
