A giant colourful toaster has arrived in Greater Manchester - but it’s not for grilling bread.

The bold larger-than-life toaster has been placed outside the John Lewis in the Trafford Centre and some people may be wondering what it’s doing there.

This toaster is not designed to make giant slices of toast, but to be a colourful drop-off point where shoppers are encouraged to bring along their old, unwanted electricals and pop them into the toaster.

This is part of Recycle your Electricals latest campaign called ‘Love your Old Toaster’ and the standout installation will be taking centre stage outside John Lewis between November 4-6 this year.

Zoe Inman, centre director at the Trafford Centre, said: “We are proud to join forces with Recycle Your Electricals to launch the ‘Love Your Old Toaster’ campaign, offering space for the stand-out toaster installation at Trafford Centre.

“The activation will give our customers, and local residents in the North West [and beyond] the opportunity to recycle their old toasters and other electricals; we strongly support this initiative as we endeavour to work towards a more green and sustainable future”.
