Which flights are cancelled from Manchester Airport and could more be cut in the coming days and weeks?

UK airports have been badly affected by staff shortages over the past weeks and months

Passengers using Manchester Airport have been hit with an array of cancellations and delays in recent weeks and months as the airport struggles to cope through a shortage of staff.

This has led to thousands of people being delayed at the airport, with some of them taking to social media to voice frustrations.

Here’s the latest on flight cancellations, including which flights have been cancelled today and what the airport has said about the disruption.

Security wait time: 17 minutes

What have passengers said about delays?

Passengers using Manchester Airport have in recent weeks and months voiced their frustration at long lines for security.

The delays have led to passengers missing their flight, but airport bosses have previously told people that they should expect to wait for around 90 minutes at security during upcoming busy periods.

Bosses have explained previously that they are undergoing a recruitment drive to help cope with a spike in demand for travel, but that it takes time to get new staff trained and in place. Many passengers have taken to social media since then to express frustration about long queues at check-in desks and security, and also at baggage reclaim, where some luggage has been left piling up.

On 17 June, passengers reported long queues getting through security of up to an hour this morning.

Charlie Cornish, chief executive of Manchester Airports Group, said: “The simple fact is that we don’t currently have the number of staff we need to provide the level of service that our passengers deserve.

“While we still expect most passengers to get through in less than 30-40 minutes, there will be times over the next few months when waiting times will rise to between 60 and 90 minutes.”
