In an attempt to revitalise struggling high streets, community groups and smaller businesses will be able to take over empty retail units, as part of the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill, which will be announced in the Queen’s Speech next month.

Under government plans, landlords will be forced to rent out vacant shops that have been vacant for longer than six months.
