Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently announced an end to all remaining Covid restrictions in England, including the legal requirement to self-isolate, under his Living with Covid plan.

All of England’s coronavirus laws were due to expire on 24 March; however at PMQs the prime minister announced two weeks ago that “encouraging” data was allowing him to bring forward the date by a whole month, to 24 February.

People in England will no longer be required to self-isolate following a positive test, whether or not they have been vaccinated. Instead, the law will become guidance, with people being urged to act responsibly.

Vaccinated people will also no longer need to test for seven consecutive days if they’ve been in contact with a positive case, and do not wish to isolate and unvaccinated people will no longer need to remain at home if they have been.

We asked Mancunians what they thought in our video report.
