'We're thrilled' - UK’s largest Korean BBQ restaurant to open in Manchester - everything you need to know

The UK’s largest Korean BBQ restaurant is set to open in Manchester.

Bullgogi, a Korean BBQ restaurant from the team behind viral street food brand Bunsik, is set to open what will be the UK’s largest Korean BBQ venue at 6A Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester. The official launch is scheduled for Friday 10 October 2025.

This new Manchester location follows Bullgogi’s original site in Notting Hill Gate, London, which opened in 2019. The restaurant offers an interactive dining experience where guests cook and share meals at tabletop grills — a hallmark of traditional Korean barbecue culture.

With 165 covers, Bullgogi Manchester will be the largest restaurant of its kind in the UK. Each booth will feature mounted tablets with a digital menu system, designed to streamline ordering and encourage exploration of the menu.

The kitchen will be led by South Korean-born chef Hans Boo, who brings more than a decade of culinary experience. The Manchester site will be managed by Kadi Voolaine, who has worked with the brand in London for over three years.

The restaurant’s name, Bullgogi, combines “Bull” — representing strength and vitality — with “Gogi,” the Korean word for meat.

Menu Highlights

Bullgogi’s menu centres around authentic Korean barbecue, offering premium meats, seafood, and vegetables for guests to grill at the table. The menu also includes:

  • Hansang Set Lunch Menu – A tray-style meal featuring a main dish, such as Bibimbap or Kimchi Jjigae, alongside various side dishes. Guests can choose from ten main options.
  • Korean Pancakes – Small dishes including prawn pancake and cheese potato pancake, designed for sharing.
  • Signature Noodles – Options such as Gim Guksu (buckwheat noodles with seaweed and perilla oil) and Kal Bibim Myun (spicy wheat noodles with squid and perilla seed powder).

In addition to food, Bullgogi will serve Soju-based cocktails and Somaek — a popular Korean beer cocktail made by mixing Soju and beer. A combo deal will allow guests to pair bottles of Soju and Korean beer to create their own mix.

Jae Cho, founder of Maguro Group, said: “Manchester has embraced Korean food with such enthusiasm since Bunsik opened in 2023, and we are thrilled to be bringing Bullgogi here next. Korean BBQ is all about gathering around the table, cooking together, and enjoying the moment – it is fun, sociable, and delicious.

“We can’t wait to share that experience with the city when Bullgogi opens this October.”

Opening Plans

Bullgogi will open with a soft launch from 3–9 October, accepting walk-ins only. During this period and continuing through to 31 October, the restaurant will offer 30% off its BBQ menu. Full service, including reservations and takeaway, begins on Friday 10 October.
