New Year’s Eve in Manchester: Met Office weather forecast for start of 2023

We have entered into the final days of 2022 and across Manchester, thoughts are turning to  how to  see in the new year. Many will have plans which involve being outside, including attending firework displays.

If you are heading to a display, or need to be out and about on New year’s Eve for other reasons, then you may have a keen eye on the weather forecast. And the wait is over as the Met Office outlook for the end of the year has now been released.

New Year’s Eve looks set to be cloudy and wet for the region, with an 80 per cent chance of rain possible for the evening. Temperatures should remain around the 8C mark and the rain will ease off as the New Year approaches.

New year’s Day in Manchester looks set to be much drier and brighter, with only a small chance of showers in the morning. Temperatures aren’t expected to fall lower than 7C.

Good news for anyone heading outdoors on Bank Holiday Monday (January 2), , as it looks set to be sunny and bright across the region. The clear skies will be replaced by clouds by evening, but the temperature should remain at a steady 6C.

Met Office forecast for the North West

December 28 

Any brightness in the north will be short-lived, with outbreaks of rain moving north during the morning. A generally wet afternoon, but turning drier by the evening. Becoming windy. Mild. Maximum temperature 10C.

Rain clearing northwards this evening with clearer spells following. Showers returning overnight, these heavy at times with a chance of hail. Turning chilly but remaining generally frost free. Staying windy. Minimum temperature 2C.

A bright and showery day with sunny spells and brief heavy showers with the chance of hail. Windy with gusty winds, perhaps touching gale force in coastal areas. Feeling colder. Maximum temperature 8C.

Outlook for December 30 to January 1

Staying changeable and generally unsettled with periods of rain, heavy at times, interspersed by brighter and more showery spells. Generally mild but brief colder interludes too. Windy with gales possible.
