We may be in the middle of August, but you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise today. Rain and thunderstorms are on the cards across the region.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the Manchester area which will be in place for most of the day. Rain and thundery conditions have been forecast for much of the day.

Hide AdThe worst of the weather is set to be at around 2pm and 3pm this afternoon. It is at this time that thunderstorms and rain will hit the region, and the rain looks set for most of the day.
The warning is currently in place across Manchester. It is set to remain in place until 9pm tonight, although the rain should fade before this.
Despite the rain and thunder, the temperature should remain relatively high. The warmest it should get in Manchester today is 20C, which could lead to some muggy conditions as the day progresses.
Met Office forecast for the North West
August 14
A generally wet and rather breezy day with heavy and perhaps thundery downpours and longer periods of rain. Perhaps turning drier and in places brighter by this evening, and feeling fairly humid if any brighter spells do develop. Maximum temperature 21C.

Hide AdAny remaining rain will clear away northeastwards to leave a mainly dry night with a mixture of cloud and occasional clear spells. Feeling slightly fresher than last night. Minimum temperature 11C.
August 15
Mainly fine to start the day and whilst a few showers will develop, it will be drier than on Monday. Feeling warm in the sunny spells, with light westerly winds. Maximum temperature 22C.
A few morning fog patches on Wednesday and Thursday, but otherwise mainly dry with sunny periods and isolated showers. Probably cloudier on Friday with showers possible later. Turning much warmer.
