Met Office issue fresh yellow weather warning for ice in Manchester- full forecast

The icy cold weather continues to impact Manchester and it looks as though the end is not quite here yet. The Met Office has issued a fresh warning for the Greater Manchester region which will come into effect just five hours after the last warning.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice in place for the region on Thursday expired at 12pm. The impact of this warning was significant as it led to Manchester Airport being closed for around three hours as snow was cleared from the runways.

Now, a second warning, due to begin at 5pm, has been issued as Manchester prepares for another icy cold night. This warning will be in place until 10am tomorrow morning (January 20).

The Met Office forecast for the region outlines just how cold it is set to get in Manchester tonight. It will feel like 0C from 4pm today through until 3am tomorrow morning.

Friday morning will feel even colder in parts of the city. By around 8am the ‘feels like’ temperature could be as low as -2C.

January 19

It will be icy in places at first with wintry showers possible during the morning. Showers will become increasingly isolated with most places seeing some sunny spells at times during the day. Winds will be lighter than yesterday, but it will still feel chilly. Maximum temperature 4C.

Any remaining coastal wintry showers dying away, leaving a dry night with clear spells. Turning very cold with a widespread frost and icy patches. A few freezing fog patches may form. Minimum temperature -6C.

January 20

After a frosty start, it will be a dry day with plenty of sunshine for most. There’s a  small chance of freezing fog patches lingering into the afternoon locally. Feeling chilly. Maximum temperature 5C.

After another frosty start, Saturday will be generally dry and bright with some sunshine. Cloudier on Sunday and Monday with patchy rain or drizzle at times. Gradually turning milder.
