Weather boffins have had their say - and things might be looking up.

We’re about to hit the middle of June - not that the recent weather has seemingly been told that. The good news is that finally it looks like things are about to warm up.

Weather boffins are predicting a ‘super heatwave’ next month but it looks like we won’t have to wait long to see temperatures rising. So sorry if you got drenched at Parklife, but warmer weather is on the way eventually.

According to James Madden of Exacta Weather the UK is set to bask in glorious sunshine with rising temperatures of 30C, possibly earlier than a previous prediction of Wednesday, July 10.

He said: “There are some decent and strong indicators among various models for something "hotter" to appear just after mid-June and something "even hotter" throughout July. Major heatwave or super heatwave still on target for mid-summer. Our earlier high-confidence forecast for a major heatwave or super heatwave is still on target to develop in or around mid-July for the UK and Ireland, and temperatures could still reach as high as the mid to high 30°C mark at the peak of this.”

What’s the weather forecast for Manchester?

This week

It looks fairly dry on Wednesday with the rain returning on Thursday night - not great news if your one of the tens of thousands heading to the Foo Fighters gig. By the weekend temperatures will have reached 17C but with light showers popping up at regular intervals including some heavy and thundery ones on Friday.

Next week

According to the BBC, the light showers continue in the week beginning June 17, but temperatures will continue to rise. By next Sunday, June 23, they are down to be a rather lovely 23C. That rain doesn’t look like it’s shifting anytime soon though.
