Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast for the end of the week in Manchester

Storm Babet has well and truly arrived in the UK, and Manchester has not been left untouched. A Met Office weather warning for rain is in place with heavy rain expected today.

The weather warning is set to expire early tomorrow morning. Saturday will be much calmer and drier and weekend plans should remain unaffected by the weather.

Flood warning for Greater Manchester

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for parts of Greater Manchester. The warning currently covers Oldham, Bolton and Rochdale.

A man has died in Shropshire after getting caught up in fast-flowing flood water. He becomes the third person to have died as a result of Storm Babet after it was earlier confirmed two people have died in Scotland
