Greater Manchester issued Met Office weather warning as heavy rain expected - hour-by-hour forecast

After a stormy and windy start to 2024 in Manchester, it now looks like heavy rain will be on the agenda. This is the latest Met Office forecast, which includes a yellow weather warning for rain across parts of Greater Manchester.
The warning is set to come into effect at noon on Monday (January 29) and remain in place overnight. At present, the warning will expire at 5am on Tuesday morning.

Hide AdFor the time being the warning covers a northern area of Greater Manchester. Times including Bolton and Bury are covered by the Met office warning, however this doesn’t mean the rest of the region gets away with no rain.
Heavy showers are forecast for Manchester and the surrounding area from around 11am. These will remain through the course of the day, only easing at around 7pm this evening.

An unsettled start to the new working week with persistent rain through much of the day, turning heavy at times, especially over the hills. Feeling less mild underneath the cloud and rain with lighter winds. Maximum temperature 11C.
Staying wet through this evening and overnight with outbreaks of rain, gradually easing by dawn for most. Chillier in the north and breezy at times. Minimum temperature 3C.

A cloudy start on Tuesday with some patchy rain lingering. Turning drier and brighter through the afternoon with sunny intervals and light winds. Temperatures close to average. Maximum temperature 9C.
Wet and windy on Wednesday with heavy rain sinking southwards. Often cloudy on Thursday and Friday with patchy rain and drizzle though winds easing. Temperatures near or slightly above average.
